About
Judgment Before Execution
Anubis Advisory and Engineering LLC is a US-based advisory and engineering firm. We're small by design — built to give every engagement senior attention, not to run as many projects as possible at once.
Anubis was the ancient guardian who weighed the truth before anything else could proceed. That's the role we take with technology: we look honestly at what exists, say plainly what we find, and only then talk about what to build.
Most technology firms are structured to sell you work. We're structured to sell you an answer first — an independent read on your architecture, your codebase, or the system you're about to acquire — and let the answer determine what happens next. Sometimes that means a fixed-scope assessment is all you need. Sometimes it means bringing us in to build the fix.
We combine advisory judgment with real engineering execution: architecture, cloud infrastructure, custom software, modernization work, and technical R&D for problems that don't have an obvious answer yet — done by people who also know how to tell you the truth about a system rather than just build what's asked. Whether you're deciding what to build, what to fix, or what to walk away from, that combination is the point.
Much of that work happens inside confidential client environments, and we don't publish proprietary architectures, source code, or client-specific information. Where we can show our reasoning, we do — see Selected Work for anonymized examples of the problems we take on.
How We Work
The same five steps, whether the engagement ends with a report or a shipped system.
Establish Ground Truth
We start with what actually exists — not what was documented, claimed, or assumed. We read the code, inspect the infrastructure, and trace actual data flows before forming any hypothesis.
Identify Constraints
We map what cannot change: regulatory requirements, contractual dependencies, team capabilities, and commercial deadlines. Viable recommendations must operate within these boundaries.
Separate Symptoms from Causes
Most technical problems present as symptoms. Latency, instability, and cost overruns are effects. We trace backwards to identify structural root causes before proposing anything.
Quantify Risk
We answer the question no one wants to ask: what happens if nothing changes? Risk that is not quantified is not managed — it is merely deferred.
Evaluate Alternatives
We evaluate all viable paths, including the ones that involve doing less. The most expensive option is rarely the only option.
Determine the Minimum Necessary Intervention
We identify precisely what does not need to be built. Unnecessary engineering is as much a risk as insufficient engineering.
Build the Decision
We deliver a clear, defensible recommendation — not a list of observations. You leave with a specific answer to a specific question.
Execute Where Required
When the assessment concludes that implementation is necessary, we can carry it through — with the same judgment that produced the diagnosis.
